August Newsletter - Sparking Dialogue on Domestic & Sexual Violence

NO MORE has long been dedicated to using the reach and power of media/entertainment to increase awareness to fuel the culture change needed to end domestic and sexual violence. While the pace of change can seem frustratingly slow, there are moments that remind us why this work matters—moments when awareness translates into real impact. This August was one of those critical times. With the release of “It Ends With Us,” as well as “Blink Twice” – for which NO MORE is proud to serve as a resource for audiences - we have seen a dramatic increase in dialogue, stories shared, support provided, and educational and community resources utilized.

Read more below and find out how you can help make a difference.

Driving Change Through “It Ends With Us”

Earlier this month, the highly anticipated film “It Ends With Us” premiered, marking a significant milestone in our long-standing partnership with Wayfarer Studios. NO MORE was proud to serve as a content advisor on the film, and to provide extensive resources for survivors, bystanders and anyone who wants to help break the pattern of abuse in our society.

We’ve been thrilled to see the film connecting survivors to support, and greater awareness and action to stop domestic and sexual violence and promote healthy relationships.

For example, since the film’s preview on August 7th,

  • Visits to our website, nomore.org, have skyrocketed by 800%.
  • The NO MORE Global Directory of support services, which is highlighted in the film’s end credit and on our dedicated movie page, saw three times its usual traffic following the film's release.
  • The ripple effects extended to social media as well. Our Instagram interactions surged by 1300%, a testament to the power of storytelling in galvanizing public engagement.
  • Downloads of our resources such as the “It Ends With Us” Viewers’ Guide and Community Toolkit have increased by 525% compared to the previous month, indicating a growing appetite for information and support.

This overwhelming response is a powerful indicator that people are not only willing to engage with these difficult topics, but that they are demanding they are addressed openly and honestly.

Here’s how you can get involved:

  • See the movie and download our “It Ends With Us” resources here.
  • Safely share your own story and find support on the NO MORE Silence: Speak Your Truth platform.
  • If you’re a survivor or know someone who is, get “The Lighthouse,” a free, comprehensive guide to recognizing abuse, getting help, finding a path to a brighter future.
  • Purchase special “It Ends With Us” merch from our partners at Out of Print. They’re generously donating a portion of proceeds to NO MORE to support our work to prevent abuse and promote healthy relationships.

Inspiring Conversation to Help Break the Societal Pattern of Abuse

In connection with “It Ends With Us” and as part of our partnership with Wayfarer Studios and their Man Enough platform, we were proud to release “Breaking the Pattern: A Special Conversation”. The special session brings together esteemed leaders in the domestic violence (DV) and sexual assault (SA) sectors for a discussion about the important issues raised in Wayfarer Studios new film adaptation of “It Ends With Us,” based on the best-selling novel by Colleen Hoover.

Moderated by NO MORE’s CEO Pamela Zaballa and Co-Founder Jane Randel, the conversation focuses on the story’s key themes and characters, and how closely they mirror the experiences of real-life survivors. Justin Baldoni, actor, filmmaker, advocate, Man Enough Podcast co-host, and director and co-star of “It Ends With Us” joined the conversation to share why he was so passionate about turning the book into a film and the importance of engaging men to help stop and prevent domestic abuse.

Check out this insightful and eye-opening discussion to understand more about domestic violence and learn how to be part of the solution. You can watch the full session on the WeAreManEnough Youtube channel here.

With the release of the new film “Blink Twice,” a psychological thriller about the abuse of power, Amazon MGM Studios is offering audiences resources and support. We’re grateful that their resource page includes the NO MORE Global Directory, which connects victims/survivors to support services in the U.S. and 200 countries and territories throughout the world.
