Commonwealth Says NO MORE

Mon Nov 25 2019, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Domestic violence and sexual assault affect every country, every society and—directly or indirectly—every person on the planet. That’s why NO MORE is fueling a global movement. With more than 30 state, local, and international chapters—from Washington to Chicago and all the way to Ecuador, the United Kingdom, and South Africa—our message is reaching nearly every part of the world.

Today, we reach even further. On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, The Commonwealth of Nations and NO MORE will announce our joint initiative to raise awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault and fuel culture change in the Commonwealth’s 53 member states, totaling two-thirds of the world’s population.

Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland will announce the partnership in London, where she will be joined by NO MORE Global Executive Director Pamela Zaballa and representatives of high commissions, businesses, academia, and women’s rights organizations.

The partnership is designed to work on the prevention of domestic violence and sexual abuse by enabling and empowering grassroots organizations, educating bystanders on how to respond to violence, and providing awareness tools and resources to people throughout the Commonwealth’s member states.
