Meet our moderator

Carole A. Fisher, a host of the award-winning The Girlfriends Podcast and NO MORE Ambassador. Carole is a well-recognized healthcare leader focused on social impact issues. First and foremost - she’s a mother and grandmother. Secondly, she is a first-time podcaster - she dated a man for six months who turned out to be a murderer, and after nearly 30 years, she’s telling her story to help others. Thirdly, she is a successful businesswoman in the world of palliative care. 

A social worker by training, she previously served as the President and CEO of one of Nevada’s largest hospices. Today, she is a C-Suite senior director with Healthsperien, LLC, a Washington D.C. consulting firm working on a variety of social impact issues ranging from mental health to hospice care. 

Meet our speakers

Karoline Starostik is a survivor, advocate and philanthropist who uses her platform to end all forms of domestic and sexual abuse. Partnering with No More, the preeminent organization dedicated to addressing the worldwide public health crisis of violence, Karoline supported the creation of “The Lighthouse,”Dr. Sinko’s research focuses on promoting healing after gender-based violence (e.g., sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child abuse), with a particular emphasis on social, cultural, and structural influences of recovery across the lifespan. a groundbreaking resource guide for those affected by abuse. After years of suffering in silence, Karoline shares her story to empower others to heal, hope, and be part of the urgent call for cultural change.

Her other philanthropic passions include founding the William Starostik Foundation in honor of her late father to aid the elderly in need. She is also on the board of Instituto Anami, a chimpanzee sanctuary founded by her grandparents, Milan and Ana Starostik, to protect primates and improve their quality of life after being rescued from captivity. 

Beyond her advocacy, Karoline is an accomplished industrialist and venture capitalist. She is the co-founder, director, and CEO of Nouvenn Corporation, an Industry 4.0 revolutionary tech company with a focus on smart cities, IoT, and robust cryptography. She is also the founder of Kópo, a beverage company focused on ready-to-drink wines and cocktails.

Dr. Laura Sinko is an Assistant Professor at Temple University and the Director of Research and Evaluation at Our Wave, an online healing platform for survivors of gender-based harm. Dr. Sinko’s research focuses on promoting healing after gender-based violence (e.g., sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child abuse), with a particular emphasis on social, cultural, and structural influences of recovery across the lifespan.

Amrita Das Gupta is a strong feminist who is passionate about creating a gender-equal, violence-free space for all at home, at the workplace, and beyond by working directly with individuals, families, institutions, and the State.

Amrita has a master’s degree in Sociology from SNDT University, Mumbai, and another master’s degree from the University of East Anglia, UK, in Development Studies and Gender.

Amrita Das Gupta has worked for over 24 years in India and United Kingdom with different human rights and women’s rights organisations to advocate for women survivors of violence and their children.

Amrita Dasgupta is currently the Executive Director of Swayam, a feminist organisation based in India that has been working for the last 30 years to address gender inequality and violence against women and girls.

Kyle Linton is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Our Wave. Kyle was inspired to start Our Wave after his loved one experienced sexual assault in 2018.  Using over 10 years of experience building software products in a variety of industries, Kyle wanted to create a safe space where survivors could share their stories, access healing resources, and be part of a global community. To date, Our Wave has over 100,000 users, stories from 63 countries, and a volunteer team of 15 people spread across the globe.

Taylor Miller is a Manager at Speak Your Truth Today and has spent over nine years within higher education, nonprofit, and coalition spaces to enhance interpersonal violence services, develop programming, facilitate training, and push for institutional changes. She is a people-centered and transformative justice advocate experienced working with incarcerated communities, foster youth, campus communities, and folks impacted by violence. She explores the intersection of advocacy and storytelling through her work with TEDx and RAINN Speakers Bureau.
