I left my abusive marriage 8 years ago. Isolation was a huge factor in the abuse as we lived in Guam. I endured mental, emotional, sexual, and physical abuse. He controlled multiple aspects of my life by hiding my wallet or car keys. He would either hide my iPad (my only source of communication with my family and friends). I was called every name in the book, told I would never amount to anything, and that no one loved me. He threatened to dump my body in the ocean and no one would care I was gone and look for me. He would get on top of me and pin me down. He slammed my head in a door. He twisted my neck trying to break it. I was trying to leave the house during a fight to de-escalate when he came up behind me, hit me in the back of the head, pulled my hair, pinned me against the wall, and told me to shut up or he would snap my neck. He would have killed me had I stayed. Leaving him was the best decision of my life. He will never be able to silence or hurt me again. Brittany
