Singer Jasmine Villegas Says NO MORE: Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
Many thanks to our friends at NO MORE Rhode Island for spearheading the events below for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month! For more information about the following initiatives visit http://www.nomoreri.org/
The NOMORERI Tweet Chat Series
A three-day social media event about healthy relationships on Feb. 8, 15 & 22 led by survivors of dating violence
One in three adolescents in the U.S. is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner.
Clearly, there’s a conversation that needs to happen and RICADV and members of our task force of dating/domestic violence survivors, Sisters Overcoming Abusive Relationships (SOAR), are using Twitter and Facebook to reach teens and college students where they spend the most free time–online.
The first conversation will be held on Feb. 8 from 2-4 PM and everyone is encouraged to participate, whether you are a teen/young adult, someone who works with youth, have children who are dating, or have a personal experience to share.
The NOMORERI Tweet Chat Series focuses on healthy relationships and includes personal stories and time to “chat” with SOAR members who overcame dating violence. By offering a forum for discussing what a healthy relationship is and isn’t, RICADV’s aim is for participants to 1) recognize the signs of abuse and 2) learn strategies for ending, reporting, and getting help for those who may be victims of dating violence.
Join us this Friday to say NO MORE to dating violence.
