Hyannis, MA (PRWEB) May 08, 2015

Individual men, businesses, civic organizations, police, fire, houses of worship, clubs and more are invited to march from the Hyannis Youth and Community Center through the Main Street District and returning back to the Community Center for a post‐March rally to benefit the Independence House.

Special guest speakers will include Boysen Hodgson, Director of Marketing and Communication for the ManKind Project USA; Rev. Steve Cordry from the Cape Cod Interfaith Coalition; The Cape and Island’s District Attorney’s Office; Lysetta Hurge Putnam, Executive Director of Independence House, and more. Proceeds from the March will benefit Independence House’s work supporting survivors and ending domestic violence and sexual assault.

Says Boysen Hodgson, “Men in our culture largely don’t have the experience of healthy male community. Many men don’t know how they fit in, they feel disconnected from themselves and each other … and so what we get is what we see in the news every day.” He continued, “The good news is that growing numbers of men are doing the hard personal and societal work needed to end the violence that unhealthy masculinity promotes. At the ManKind Project, we support men in healing themselves, and we stand up as partners to help change our culture.”
The ManKind Project USA is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission of supporting men to act on their individual and shared responsibility for the future of humanity by initiating and supporting them on a path of emotional maturity, spiritual awareness and deepening community.

Brian Renard, Chairman for the March and member of the Mankind Project states, “the March is to bring together men and start conversations about what we can do to be part of the solution in ending domestic violence and sexual assault’. Brian also indicated the importance of connecting men to thriving groups. “We want to have a strong show of organized groups, offering men who don’t otherwise connect, opportunities to be part of healthy community organizations.”

Registration for the March can be found online at https://indhouse.ejoinme.org/march. Suggested donations are $20 to march. Boys under 18 March for free.
