2018 Latin@ Leadership Pre-Institute

Mon Jul 16 2018 - Tue Jul 17 2018, All Day

Casa de Esperanza’s National Latin@ Network for Healthy Families and Communities (NLN), in collaboration with the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRCDV), will host the 2018 Latin@ Leadership Pre-Institute that takes place on July 16-17, 2018 in New Orleans, Louisiana (pending OVW approval.) At this event, Latin@ Leaders* and Aspiring Allies** will examine power and privilege to enhance their ability to operate from an anti-oppression framework to end violence against women. The cohort of participants will receive follow-up quarterly targeted support and technical assistance from Casa de Esperanza and NRCDV.

During this day and a half Pre-Institute event, participants will delve deeper into the issues that impact Latin@ Leaders and Aspiring Allies in the violence against women movement. Interested applicants should apply in a team of at least two from the same organization that include one Latin@ Leader and one Aspiring Ally.

The two parallel tracks at this Pre-Institute event include the Latin@ Leadership Track and the Aspiring Ally Track.

Latin@ Leadership Track

The Latin@ Leadership Track will provide Latin@ Leaders with a space to engage in critical dialogues on their experiences and to explore internalized oppression, strategic collaboration, and other relevant topics to uplift their leadership.

Aspiring Ally Track

The Aspiring Ally Track will provide leaders with new ways to reflect on and address oppression, privilege, race, and power to support Latin@ Leaders.
