Light Up The Night At the Long Center

Mon Oct 5 2015, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

LIGHT UP THE NIGHT | UNITY DAY|MONDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2015
Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) evolved from the “Day of Unity” in October 1981 and was conceived by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The intent was to connect domestic violence advocates across the country at a local, state, and national level. Tonight specifically, The Survive2Thrive Foundation wishes to celebrate the survivors of domestic violence

The Survive2Thrive Foundation is organizing an Austin Metro wide show of support on Monday, October 5 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. for the Light Up The Night event, requesting use of the Long Center patio and lawn as a gathering place for survivors of domestic violence and supporters of domestic violence awareness. We will use purple searchlights as a beacon for all who wish to join us.

The event would be held on the grounds of the facility and would include brief speaking, live music and light refreshments.

SafePlace Austin, The Lift Alliance, The Texas Council on Family Violence, Hope Alliance Crisis Center, Asian Family Support Services of Austin, and local NoMore.org allies are coming together to promote this event and share in the celebration!
