This is an outreach event for our organization to connect our Developmentally Disabled clients with our local Domestic Violence Service Center, CASA – Community Action Stops Abuse.

A speaker from CASA will present a 1 hour program to our clients on healthy relationships. Our clients will bring donations for the shelter’s wish list within their budget. We will also have food, recreational activities and gifts for everyone to take home.

Individuals with Developmental Disabilities are 11 times more likely to be sexually assaulted than the average person most often at the hands of a family member or trusted family friend. Eighty percent of women and 30 percent of men with Intellectual Disabilities have been sexually assaulted and 50% of those have been assaulted more than 10 times in their lifetime. Even worse than these numbers is the fact that only 3% of cases are ever reported and fewer still are ever prosecuted.

We are using NO MORE as a vehicle to educate and empower our clients to say NO MORE as well as help contribute to their community by donating to CASA’s wish list.
