In 1994, I was abducted for almost twenty-four hours. I was strangled into submission, assaulted with a deadly weapon, tied up and gagged and taken deeper into the desert. I thought I was going to be killed. Within seconds, my life changed forever. I was raped numerous times but, after a while, the rapes became secondary as my primary focus was to get away (I experienced the necessary skill of disassociation while being raped where I was able to psychologically leave my body ... but never entirely). I was eventually able to trick the serial rapist and convince him to let me go, caught him and was instrumental in putting him in prison for life. Where he has since died. I have written a book about this experience, Victim: A Feminist Manifesto from a Fierce Survivor. The sexual violence I have experienced made me into a warrior fighting to end a culture of exploitation and sexual assault. Always No More!
